The 4th Of July

Homemade salsa and a red, white, and blue dessert, melt in your mouth brownies after plentiful cookout fare, going back for another plate, kids laughing and jumping in the pool and swimming for hour after hour, rain that held off most of the day, conversations in the front room with a friend who almost had an Independence Day baby, blowing bubbles and other simple summertime pleasures, freshly bathed kids holding paper lanterns, a front yard firework show thanks to the neighbors, one of the coolest, most pleasant 4th of July evenings I can remember.

Going to bed thankful to live in such a blessed nation.
Being aware that freedom takes sacrifice.
Praying that God will continue to bless America, this land that I love.
Laying my head on my pillow in peace.
